Julie Blasbery

Client Relationship Director

Aviation Industry Skills Board

My role:

With over 20 years’ experience in the aviation industry, I have held the role of Client Relationship Director since the formation of the Aviation Industry Skills Board in 2008, bringing employers, government, and industry partners together to shape the Board’s strategic direction and drive our shared priorities forward.

In my role, I design and deliver the campaigns, content, and experiences that define the AISB’s voice and help the board communicate with clarity and confidence. This includes leading multi‑channel initiatives such as AISB’s National Apprenticeship Week campaign and co‑creating engaging webinar programmes that highlight real aviation career pathways to assist educators, parents, and young people in understanding what this unique industry has to offer. My approach is always data‑informed and audience‑led—from using educator insight to guide resource development to crafting agendas, materials, and public‑facing copy that keep the board aligned and our partners connected.

With AISB members balancing their day jobs, I am the person behind the scenes keeping everything moving — nudging actions along, untangling timelines, and making sure nothing quietly disappears., so that our members can focus on what they do best – bringing their industry expertise to the board, to ensure the AISB doesn’t just stay airborne, but keeps flying forward with purpose!

My thoughts on the industry:

Aviation is an exciting industry to be in, fast paced and innovative it’s perfect for someone wanting to make a difference. Powered by thousands of unique roles that keep people, aircraft, and global journeys moving.

From pilots, air traffic controllers and cabin crew, to the hidden roles behind the scenes—engineers, digital specialists, data analysts, ground operations teams, safety experts, sustainability innovators, customer experience, legal advisors, HR specialists, finance teams, and project managers and more—aviation is a world where every skillset belongs.

Airports operate like mini‑cities, buzzing with careers in everything from wildlife management and emergency services to green fuels, AI-driven operations, and immersive passenger technology. And with new pathways like apprenticeships, virtual work experiences, and future‑focused roles in AI, cybersecurity, sustainability and digital transformation, there has never been a more exciting time to join an industry that connects people, cultures, and possibilities across the globe.
